I haven't and I must confess I kinda dread it. Not big on music biopics in general. But others seem very excited. I'd value opinions from Bob fans, as opposed to civilians...

Love documentaries, not so sure about "recreations" of the recent past. For instance, apparently, to streamline the story here, the "Judas" cry happens at the Newport Folk Festival. Perhaps I'm just too picky but I have issues with that...

Here's the 'Blowing In The Wind' scene. It could have been a lot worse...

          .
Haven't seen it, of course, but have just been listening to clips (audio only) of a half-dozen or so songs.

Prediction: The soundtrack will become a HUGE SELLER. There will be a significant bump in purchases of Bob's early albums. Whether or not those LPs are found in private collections or yard sales run by savvy owners, in time you're gonna pay more if you want one. This said, Columbia/Sony will make sure that "product" is available.

I think Warren's completely correct - early folky Dylan revival on the way!

I've now seen the movie. It was much better than I feared. Chalamet is, I'm surprised to say, pretty damn good. Monica Barbaro playing Baez is fantastic as is Ed Norton as Pete Seeger.

There are many many inaccuracies, particularly with the whole time-line of writing/recording songs but the only moment that really seemed overly cheesey was the Newport finale, which pretty much restages the musical ending of No Direction Home, but at Newport where everyone had conveniently gathered (including Johnny Cash and Suze Rotolo). I can only assume that Bob got them to change Suze's name because she really isn't done any justice. Of all the characters she seems mostly there as a dewy-eyed plot device.

But, overall, to my astonishment, I really would highly recommend it. After that (I thought) trite and conventional Johnny Cash film from the director this is on a whole different level. Who woulda thought?

(BTW, aside from Suze Rotolo the other person rather underserved is Toshi Seeger, Pete's wife and a quite remarkable woman. She takes the role here of mute observer, in a lot of scenes, given about 3 lines of bland dialogue.)

Funniest scene? Albert Grossman and Alan Lomax having a fist-fight backstage at Newport... (there's a lovely nod to the Seeger story as Pete gazes at the sound cables and a nearby axe, but he's interrupted by Toshi who gets one of her few lines: "Pete".)
